Outreach

To reach out beyond the walls of our church to people near and far is the purpose of the Outreach Program. We have a close association with the Cote des Neiges Council of Churches and help run their Miniprix clothing store. We support St. Columba House with monthly donations of food and clothing. Meals-on-Wheels is prepared in our kitchen and delivered twice weekly to people in need in the N.D.G. area.

Financial support is provided to a wide variety of groups including: Waseskun House and its camp, the Old Brewery Mission, Auberge Madeleine, the N.D.G. Food Bank, Montreal Diet Dispensary, Elizabeth House, Prospect Belevdere and Nazareth House.

Every year we host and entertain approximately 100 people at a Christmas dinner and party at the church. Our guests, who live in the community, are disabled, shut-in or alone at Christmas time.

As part of a community we also open our doors to a number of youth groups: Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Brownies and Guides. Other groups meeting in our building include: Sweet Adeline Barbershop Singers, Ikebana Japanese Flower Arranging, Low Impact Exercise Classes, Diggers and Weeders Garden Club, Board of Camp Amy Molson, Montreal Children's Library.

Mission and Service:
The Mission and Service Fund is a national fund made up of money donated by every congregation in the United Church. Each year we commit a portion of our income to this fund. It is distributed by the national office around the world wherever the need arises.

Current outreach projects:

Summer Camps:

The Outreach Committee will support three camps:

Côte-des-Neiges Council of Churches
Camp Cosmos (Montreal City Mission)
St. Columba House

Summer Day Camps provide a unique opportunity for young people to attend a variety of activities that otherwise would not be available to many inner-city children. If you wish to add your support to this important mission, please contact us

Japan Earthquake Relief:

The United Church of Canada will work with partners in Japan to support on-the-ground relief and reconstruction. (The United Church of Christ of Japan). Donations cheques, designated for "Japan Earthquake Relief and Reconstruction", can be mailed to:

Helping out at the Old Brewery Mission - Oct. 17, 2010

We were given a tour, learned about what goes on and helped serve 356 suppers.
We also presented the mission with $1050.00 and bags of clothing.
This was an excellent opportunity for us to get directly involved within our Montreal community.
