ActivitiesCheck out our Calendar for dates and times.
A variety of events held throughout the year bring people together and provide time to enjoy fellowship.
Coffee hour This get-together, which follows the Sunday morning service, is a popular time for greetings. Occasionally the visit of a special guest or a need for discussion leads to the sharing of a simple lunch.
Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper: draws a large, appreciative crowd. Spring Dessert and Auction: an event not to be missed. There's competition, delicious desserts and entertainment. Our Congregational Picnic: held in June in a nearby park or on our church grounds, gives the young and not-so-young an opportunity to join in the fun and games. Fall Outing: when fall colours are at their best, Pastoral Care makes arrangements for an enjoyable day in the country. Holiday Fall Bazaar: on this very busy occasion people come to view and buy a wide variety of items, the product of many hours of preparation by our congregation. Special Events Whenever you enter the building, you might find us participating in line dancing lessons, stained glass classes, yoga classes, drama group or theme dances. Everyone is invited to contribute or take part in these events.
Monday Group This group of ladies meets every Monday, September through June, from 12 noon to 2:30 p.m. They each bring a bag lunch and enjoy a time of fellowship before working on their various projects, mainly knitting and sewing. The items made are distributed to several community groups such as St. Columba House and In His Name Society. Articles are also made for the Holiday Bazaar, held on a Saturday in November, supplying seven boutiques of knitting, novelties, Christmas decorations and toys. Donations of material or articles are always gladly received. Everyone welcome, even if you can't come every week.
Study / Interest Groups People meet for study/discussion or to listen to a guest speaker during the day or evening from fall to late spring. Bag Lunch Sundays Current topics of interest, or matters of concern, are reviewed after Sunday worship. A guest moderator is often invited. Town Hall Meetings These are called in place of Sunday worship when there is a need to discuss, for example, a special initiative and its implications. (Small group exchanges of ideas and reports help decision making.) |
